What is a european scaffolding con certificado de homologación ??

It should be noted that these two terms have different interpretations and generate doubts when we decide to buy a European scaffolding that is approved. What does this mean?

Well, the definition in the dictionary of the Royal Academy is:

  • Homologate: “Contrast compliance with certain specifications or characteristics of an object or an action.
  • Certify: “To assure, to affirm, to take for certain something ”

As in all regulations in Spain, there are always variable interpretations... Approved European scaffolding must comply with the manufacturing standard UNE 12810 and 12811, where the parameters, manufacturing standards, material characteristics, tube thickness, galvanized thickness are specified. , etc. etc… This generates a CE marking, as it is a product manufactured in the European Community.

The homologation of these scaffolding is a series of tests or tests to guarantee the stability, durability and application of the European standard under which they are manufactured. Likewise, the organisms in charge of verifying that the homologation has been fulfilled (and that they carry out these tests) are the same ones that will issue the homologation certificate that guarantee compliance with these processes, entities such as AENOR, ATISAE, VERITAS BUREAU, SGS… etc…

The homologation certificate expires and must be renewed according to the time established by the certifying entity, going through the homologation tests again.

These entities, competent bodies regulated under the Ministry of Industry, guarantee and attest that the product to be certified has passed a series of trials or tests (homologation) to comply with the mandates or guidelines of the European standard under which the products are manufactured. scaffolding These tests, as a general rule, are tests of load, resistance, torsion, deformation, etc. etc.. applied to scaffolding on a typical configuration, for example, 9m long x 8m high and subjecting this installation to load, torsion or deformation tests to see the resistance and load they support.

This means that if they pass the tests of the certifying entity, it will be able to guarantee that this product has been manufactured under the mandates of the European standards that regulate it for its manufacture.

In short, we recommend that whenever you are going to buy a European scaffolding, we first make sure that you buy the scaffolding from a recognized manufacturer with some seniority in the sector, this guarantees its solvency, continuity and compliance with the regulations in its production process.

Before purchasing the scaffolding, make sure you have your approval certificate and assembly manual. (which we will talk about in a future article).

We have to bear in mind that our objective when buying a certified scaffolding is to guarantee the safety of the operators who work on the scaffolding, deriving responsibility from the manufacturer in the event that the scaffolding systems fail, either due to breakage or deformation.

Therefore we can say that what really interests us is acquiring a European scaffolding with an approval certificate and assembly manual...
